ith increased security, it is imperative that each traveler have the proper documentation for customs. Failure to provide this could result in refusal of passengers on flights and cruise ships; and, result in major problems for the entire group on motorcoach tours at the Canadian border. For this reason, Capitol Tours reserves the right to refuse any traveler who does not have the proper customs documentation. Please review the following requirements carefully. If you have any questions, you may call our office to clarify these requirements.

Document required for air flights & cruises: Beginning January 8, 2007, all passengers traveling outside the U.S. must have a passport with an expiration date of at least six (6) months following the return of the trip.

Documents required for all land travel (motorcoach, automobile, etc.) for 2008:

  • Passport with an expiration date of at least six (6) months following the return of the trip;

-OR-

  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate with raised seal; must be government issued copy; hospital copy is not acceptable;

and

  • Government issued photo ID - Driver license, state ID card, or similar;

and

  • Women with name changes from birth certificate must also provide a trail for all those changes - photo copies of marriage license(s), divorce decree(s), death certificate(s) for spouse(s), etc.

Notes:

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security prefers that all travelers re-entering the U.S. from foreign travel use passports for customs.
