APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS & BILTMORE ESTATE SEPTEMBER 19 / 5 DAYS Grand Ole Opry, Scenic Excursion Train, a full day at magnificent Biltmore Estate and the Storytelling Capital of the World makes this a wonderful early fall tour. Day 1. We travel through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and into Tennessee. Tonight we attend The Grand Ole Opry. Every week, they take the excitement of a live audience, their past heritage, and incredible mix of talent to the world, broadcasting live. Lodging: Country Inn & Suites, Nashville, TN Day 2. After breakfast we depart for Norris, Tennessee and the Museum of Appalachia, a living history museum of pioneer, frontier, and early artifacts of mountain life in the Southern Appalachians. Lunch is included at Museum of Appalachia. This afternoon we take a train ride through beautiful East Tennessee on a railroad built over 60 years ago for the historic Manhattan Project. Learn about the birthplace of the atomic age on a one hour ride that includes an informative narration. Our accommodations for the next two nights is located near Biltmore Village. Lodging: Doubletree Hotel Biltmore, Asheville, NC (2 nights) Day 3. We enjoy breakfast then board our coach for the short drive to Biltmore Estate where we will enjoy a tour of this opulent estate’s home, grounds, winery and have an included buffet lunch. You will have extra time to explore the grounds at your leisure. Day 4. After breakfast we depart for Jonesborough, The Storytelling Capital of the World. Our guide welcomes us to the oldest town in Tennessee and provides a history of the historic district. We take a “Stroll Through Time” as our guide shares the stories of the people and events that shaped the history of the area. A delicious lunch prepared especially for us by one of Jonesborough’s fine restaurants is served before we depart. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we travel to Berea, Kentucky for dinner at the Boone Tavern Restaurant. Lodging: Boone Tavern Hotel, Berea, KY Day 5.
