NEW YORK CITY – “The Big Apple” June 30 / 7 Days New York City – there is more to see, more to do, and more to experience than any other city in the world. It is known as the Capital of the World in culture, fashion, food, and much, much more. A wonderful family experience – grandparents, parents, children & youth are invited to join us! Day 1. We have a great day getting acquainted with our traveling companions as we journey through Illinois, Indiana and Ohio to our accommodations for the evening. Lodging: Comfort Inn, Zanesville, OH Day 2. We arrive in the city today. In New York City, it’s location, location, location! Our hotel is situated in an excellent location with easy access to many downtown attractions, theaters, and shops. Lodging: The Belevedere Hotel, New York, NY (4 nights) Day 3. This morning, we take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where it all began for many of our families; a definite highlight of the tour! This afternoon is free to relax, purchase discounted tickets for a Broadway show or enjoy a shopping experience. Day 4. We have a great day ahead of us beginning with an opportunity to view The Today Show from the street just outside the studio. Bring a sign to hold up. As they scan the audience, you just might get on television! Later this morning, we see “Strawberry Fields” in Central Park and have lunch at the famous Tavern on the Green followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride in the park. Central Park has landscaped and recreational areas totaling 843 acres, playing fields, zoos, carousel, skating rinks, theater, lakes, food, visitor centers, entertainment! Tavern on the Green is located in Central Park and is known as “Manhattan’s glittering crown jewel”, as well as for its excellent food. This afternoon is free to explore on your own and visit the 5th Avenue shops. We suggest: Toys “R” Us Times Square – huge toy store with 64 ft. Ferris wheel, 2 story Barbie house, 20 ft. Animatronic dinosaur and Lego skyline; FAO Schwartz toy store; Bergdorf Goodman’s; Macy’s; Disney Store; and Tiffany & Co. This evening we visit the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, a new and exciting attraction in the city, for a spectacular view of this marvelous city sparkling with lights. Day 5. A step-on guide joins us on our coach for a city tour to include Times Square, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Trump Tower, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Grand Central Station, Wall Street, Ground Zero, World Financial Center, Battery Park, and a special photo op of the Statue of Liberty. The tour ends at South Street Seaport with an opportunity to relax, check out the shops and enjoy lunch and dinner on your own. This is an excellent viewing location for the spectacular Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks. Following the fireworks display, we return to our hotel. Day 6. Traveling scenic highways through the mountains of Pennsylvania, we arrive in Ohio for the last night of our tour. Lodging: Comfort Inn, Zanesville, OH Day 7. Continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. We travel on home with wonderful memories of all we have seen, done, and experienced in the city “like no other”.
